Hong Kong lawyer: Qianhai is a bridgehead of intl legal dispute resolution in China

"Qianhai's international legal dispute resolution, the field in which I am engaged, serves as the bridgehead of this industry nationwide," Francis LAW, Chairman of International Dispute Resolution & Risk Management Institute, told GDToday.

Francis LAW mentioned that in their first case in Qianhai, they worked with the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration to conduct cross-border mediation. "I believe that Qianhai has been at the forefront of legal and international dispute resolution services," he said.

Over the past two years, Francis LAW has witnessed not only the rapid development of Qianhai but also its inclusiveness and openness. A fair and transparent legal environment is an essential requirement for a high-quality business environment. As a cooperation zone adjacent to Hong Kong, Qianhai takes the lead in exploring and promoting the integration and coordination between the two different legal systems of Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Recently, Qianhai has gradually become a popular destination for Hong Kong residents and companies to settle down, due to its preferential policies as well as optimized business and living environment. For example, eligible professionals are exempted from paying the portion of personal income tax that exceeds 15% of their taxable income, and corporate income tax rates will be lowered to 15% for eligible companies in the zone. 18 categories of professionals from Hong Kong, covering the fields of taxation, architecture, city planning and tour guides, are allowed to practice in Qianhai through registration (filing).

"In fact, Hong Kong has cooperated with Qianhai for quite a long time. If Qianhai or Shenzhen wants to take a step forward to expand into the global market, Hong Kong's experience can be of help," Francis LAW furthered.
