Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles Expanding to 9 Chinese Mainland Cities of the GBA Area, Starting July 25

Under the expansion arrangements of Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles (Southbound Travel Scheme) announced by HKSAR government, the entry into the Hong Kong urban area by Guangdong vehicles will be further expanded since July 25, covering 9 Chinese mainland cities of the GBA area.

The newly added cities include Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Zhaoqing; the travel booking quota of entry into urban area will be increased from 100 to 200 vehicles per day; while the maximum permitted stay in Hong Kong remains three days

Launched in last December, the scheme initially opened to four cities, including Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Jiangmen and Zhongshan. Guangdong and Hong Kong authorities will keep track of the implementation, and based on the outcomes, both parties aim to extend the arrangements to all 21 cities across Guangdong Province by the first quarter of 2027.

The Transport Department of the HKSAR Government said the scheme has operated smoothly and in good order since its rollout, with steady growth in applications and reservations. As of mid-July, more than 13,000 applications for access to urban Hong Kong had been received, of which over 11,000 were approved, and the total number of booked vehicle trips exceeded 9,000.

Additionally, the Airport Authority Hong Kong will launch a brand-new "Park & Fly" service, offering more convenient parking options at the boundary crossing for Chinese mainland and Macao visitors arriving in Hong Kong via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
