Hengqin to boost workforce engagement and strengthen Guangdong-Macao coordination

On August 4, the administration group of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin convened its second meeting to outline key priorities for the next phase.

Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Director of the Cooperation Zone's Executive Committee, emphasized the importance of enhanced institutional innovation, including flexible deployment and a two-way exchange mechanism. Experienced Macao civil servants with specialized expertise will be selected to join task forces within the Cooperation Zone, and Hengqin officials at all levels will be invited to conduct research tours in Macao to gain an in-depth understanding of Macao's development needs, aligning Hengqin's development with Macao's economic diversification goals.

Sam Hou Fai prioritized three critical initiatives: accelerating the construction of the Hengqin campus of the University of Macau, establishing a regional technology transfer hub for universities, and launching a dedicated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Sub-Center by 2025.
