The Shenzhen railway reports a significant 13.9% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, totaling 42.36 million in the first six months of the year, equivalent to twice the city's population.
The railway system also saw a surge in arrivals, handling 36.49 million passengers, a 13.7% increase compared to the previous year.

These numbers underscore the Shenzhen railway's pivotal role as a key transportation hub driving high-quality development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Compared to 2023, there was a notable rise of 5.13 million departing passengers and 4.39 million arrivals in the first half of this year.
Futian station, for instance, recorded a significant growth with 2.07 million passengers sent, marking a 54.3% year-on-year increase, and 1.91 million arrivals, up by 47.8% from the previous year.
To efficiently manage growing passenger flows, the Shenzhen railway system optimized its organizational capabilities and hardware and software facilities. With over 100 sets of turnstiles, passenger entry and exit processes were streamlined, especially during peak travel times.
During this year's Spring Festival period, the Shenzhen railway handled a record 20 million passenger trips, a 33.6% increase from the previous year.
