On June 27, the joint interview activity "Building Dreams and Seeking Development Together" for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao media in the Greater Bay Area visited Foshan. Over thirty journalists from central and Greater Bay Area media toured key cultural and technological landmarks, including the Ancestral Temple, the Wong Fei-hung Memorial Hall, Lingnan Tiandi, and NationStar Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., to explore the charm of culture and technology in Lingnan.

The first stop for the media delegation in Foshan was the Ancestral Temple, a national key cultural relic protection unit and a base for the inheritance of Chinese culture in Guangdong. The temple combines the architectural arts of the Ming and Qing dynasties with traditional Foshan culture. At the Ancestral Temple, the journalists watched Foshan martial arts and lion dance performances, immersing themselves in Lingnan culture.

Adjacent to the Ancestral Temple is Lingnan Tiandi, a prime example of the organic integration of Lingnan culture with modern life and a well-known urban reception hall in the Greater Bay Area. Covering approximately 630,000 square meters, Lingnan Tiandi boasts 128 historical buildings, eight historic streets, and over 300 businesses, making it a concentrated area of Cantonese cultural resources in Lingnan.

In an interview, Wen Dechun, General Manager of the Lingnan Tiandi Foshan project, stated that Lingnan Tiandi is a tourism zone that blends culture, tourism, and leisure. It attracted 32 million visitors in 2023, with a daily footfall of about 80,000. With the trend of more Hong Kong and Macao vehicles traveling north, more and more tourists from Hong Kong and Macao are visiting Lingnan Tiandi for leisurely weekends.

"We are also developing the 'night economy' to attract more young people from Hong Kong and Macao. And we hope to create a favorable business environment that encourages them to start businesses here," Wen Dechun said. Currently, Lingnan Tiandi has established several bases for entrepreneurial exchanges among the young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, aiming to create a talent reception hall in the Greater Bay Area.

In the afternoon, the media delegation visited NationStar Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. in Foshan and toured the LED Experience Hall. Established in 1969, NationStar Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. has a registered capital of 620 million yuan. It is a leading company in the LED packaging industry in China and a subsidiary of Guangdong Rising Holdings Group Co., Ltd, a key state-owned enterprise in Guangdong Province.

Xie Zhiguo, Chief Engineer and Dean of the Research Institute at NationStar Optoelectronics, introduced that the company has recently recruited high-level talent from Hong Kong while it was collaborating with universities such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on scientific research to tackle key technological challenges. Xie believed that the exchange of talent and technology in the Greater Bay Area was increasing, which further expanded the market application of the company’s products. He hoped for more future collaborations with universities and enterprises in Hong Kong and Macao.

"There are many authoritative experts in Hong Kong and Macao universities. They have a broader vision and possibly better technology compared to those of our company," said Xu Xiaoping, Director and Vice President of NationStar Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. Currently, the company is deepening its cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao universities not only in talent and technology but also in trade.

From June 23 to 29, the "Building Dreams and Seeking Development Together" media tour, jointly organized by the All-China Journalists Association, the Hong Kong Federation of Journalists, the Macao Journalists Association, and the Guangdong Journalists Association, brought over thirty journalists from central and GBA media to Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhaoqing to report on the latest developments in the Greater Bay Area.
