Hengqin “Macau New Neighborhood” secondary school set to be completed by 2026

The construction of the secondary school within the Hengqin "Macau New Neighborhood" project officially commenced on May 27th and is expected to be completed and handed over to the operating unit by 2026. Additionally, shops within the district are scheduled to open progressively starting in July, marking significant progress in the completion of the project's amenities.

The secondary school is strategically located on the southern side of Xiao Hengqin Mountain, adjacent to the western side of the Macau New Neighborhood. Covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters with a total construction area of around 28,000 square meters, the five-story school is initially planned to accommodate 36 classes, with a capacity of hosting about 1,200 students. The project will feature an outdoor playground, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, multifunctional classrooms, and parking facilities for staff.

The "Macau New Neighborhood" is the first large-scale comprehensive livelihood project jointly developed by Guangdong and Macao to cater to Macao residents. It encompasses schools, health centers, elder service centers, family community service centers, and high-quality living spaces. The project spans an area of over 190,000 square meters, with a total construction area of approximately 620,000 square meters.
