In 2023, the total output value of Shenzhen's robot industry chain reached 179.7 billion RMB, an increase of 8.7 percent year on year, according to a report on Shenzhen's robot industry in 2023 released by the Shenzhen Robotics Association. The growth rate is much higher than that of the added value of the city's high-tech manufacturing industry, which stands at 3.3%, and close to that of the added value of the city's strategic emerging industries ,which is 8.8 percent.

As for the development of the robotic industry in various districts in Shenzhen, the number of registered enterprises in Bao'an District accounted for 23.93 percent, followed by Nanshan and Longgang districts at 19.23 percent and 17.28 percent, respectively. In terms of output value, Nanshan and Bao'an districts accounted for 35.01 percent and 34.84 percent, respectively, ranking at the forefront.

Bi Yalei, Secretary General of the Shenzhen Robotics Association, said that the new increment of Shenzhen's robot industry chain last year mainly came from non-industrial robots. According to the report, in the entire robot industry chain, industrial robots accounted for 62 percent and non-industrial robots accounted for 38 percent. It is estimated that the output value of non-industrial robots in the city last year reached 67.8 billion RMB, compared with 61.1 billion RMB in 2022, an increase of 11.13 percent.

Specifically, in 2023, the output value of robots working in the service industry accounted for 49.44 percent, robots for special use accounted for 16.65 percent, logistics robots accounted for 13.83 percent, educational robots accounted for 6.36 percent, and medical robots accounted for 6.23 percent. Robots used in commercial service and home appliances still take a large proportion among the non-industrial robots in Shenzhen.
