Guangzhou’s air quality maintains a high standard in 2023

In 2023, all six indicators of atmospheric pollutants in Guangzhou meet the standards, and the average density of PM2.5, the fine particulate matter, is 23 micrograms per cubic meter, maintaining the best air quality among the nine major cities in the country, Zheng Zewen, spokesperson of the Guangzhou Municipal Ecological Environmental Bureau, said at a press conference on March 19th.

According to Zheng, the percentage of days with good and moderate air quality stands at 90.4%, marking a 6.6-percentage-point increase compared with the previous year. Twenty main rivers in Guangzhou meet surface water quality standards in both national and provincial tests with a rate of 85.0%.
