Among them, the economic aggregate of the two biggest cities, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, were over 3 trillion yuan, reaching 3.04 trillion yuan and 3.46 trillion yuan respectively. There are two cities that exceeded one trillion yuan, Foshan and Dongguan as they continued to expand their economic scales with a total of 1.33 trillion yuan and 1.14 trillion yuan respectively. Other cities in Guangdong have also shown impressive economic growth with Huizhou's economic aggregate surpassing 550 billion yuan, Zhuhai's exceeding 420 billion yuan, and Jiangmen's reaching over 400 billion yuan. Maoming's economic aggregate was close to 400 billion yuan, Jieyang's figure exceeded 240 billion yuan. Even Yunfu, whose economic aggregate was the smallest in the province, had one that surpassed 120 billion yuan.

In 2023, all regions of the province worked together to achieve steady growth in their economic aggregate, said Yang Xinhong, the director of the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

"The city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has witnessed a significant rise in strength,” he added. “A typical example is the economic aggregate of the Pearl River Delta. It reached 11.02 trillion yuan, surpassing the 11-trillion-yuan mark. This represents a year-on-year growth of 4.8%, which was in line with the overall provincial growth rate, further highlighting the driving force of the Pearl River Delta for the province's economic growth."
