Overseas warehouses of Guangdong for cross-border e-commerce booming

In recent years, Guangdong has introduced various support policies, including ten policies for cross-border e-commerce and 11 policies for overseas warehouses, to promote the development of overseas warehouses for cross-border e-commerce.  

According to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, the province has owned over 1,000 overseas warehouses, covering an area of nearly 6 million square meters and serving over 100,000 enterprises. Innovative models such as the world's first cross-border sea-air transportation and direct-to-airport mode have been initiated, along with innovative cases such as "overseas warehouse + overseas live streaming" and "overseas warehouse + used car exports."

In collaboration with the Hong Kong International Airport, Dongguan City is exploring the new mode of the Dongguan-Hong Kong International Airport Logistics Park and Air-Sea Combined Transport Terminal project. Exported goods will undergo air cargo security checks, tallying, and palletizing at the Dongguan Airport Center, then be transported by barge directly to Hong Kong Airport for loading onto planes.

It is the world's first direct-to-airport cross-border sea-air transportation mode, saving enterprises 30% of logistics time and customs clearance costs. The center has attracted three major cargo stations in Hong Kong, 22 airlines, and 87 freight forwarding companies, connecting to 90 routes in 40 countries. The import and export value of goods is expected to exceed 1 billion yuan in 2023 and surpass 10 billion yuan in 2024.
