GDP of Shenzhen hits 3.46T yuan in 2023

Shenzhen's GDP grew 6% to hit 3.46 trillion yuan (US$482 billion) in 2023, according to statistics released by Shenzhen Statistics Bureau today.



The added value of the primary industry amounted to 2.47 billion yuan, up 2.6% year on year, while that of the secondary industry increased by 6.5% to reach to 1.3 trillion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry amounted to 2.16 trillion yuan, up 5.6% from the previous year, data showed. 

In 2023, the added value of the city's above-scale industry grew by 6.2% year on year. The added value of the mining, manufacturing, and electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industries above designated scale saw an incease of 4.4%, 5.6% and 19.2%, respectively.

In terms of industry categories, the added value of the automobile industry above designed scaled went up by 47.3%. The output of major high-tech products continued its rapid growth, with new energy vehicles and service robots seeing an increase of 104.2% and 36%, respectively.

The city’s fixed-asset investment rose to 11% year on year. Investment in high-tech manufacturing went up by 64%, wherein investments in electronics and communication equipment manufacturing went up by 70.6%.  

The city's imports and exports amounted to 3.87 trillion yuan, up 5.9% year-on-year. Among it, exports reached 2.46 trillion yuan, up 12.5%.  

Shenzhen reported a year-on-year growth of 7.8% in total retail sales, hitting 1.05 trillion yuan in 2023, data showed.
