How Guangdong promotes high-quality development of counties, towns and villages

On January 24, a special press conference on "High-quality Development Projects for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages" was held during the second session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, introducing the latest situation in urban and rural areas of cities such as Shanwei, Huizhou, Shaoguan, and Qingyuan.

Shanwei: Harnessing marine resources

As a coastal city, Shanwei has an ocean area of 23,900 square kilometers and 881 islands，ranking first in Guangdong Province，and has extremely superior marine resources.

"The gross marine product of Shanwei accounts for 18% of the regional GDP. The ocean is an important feature of Shanwei's implementation of 'High-quality Development Projects for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages'"，saidZheng Haitao, mayor of Shanwei City. At present, Shanwei is increasing its construction of marine industries and ports and terminals, and large enterprises such as China General Nuclear Power, China Resources, Mingyang, and Shenzhen Energy have successively settled in the area.

In addition, as one of the four major fishing groundsin China, Shanwei has built two large-scale modern marine ranch projectsin 2023, China Resources in Jiangmu island and CGN Baolihua Shanwei Houhu Offshore Wind Project. Theyare respectively the first zero-carbon demonstration project and the largest capacity typhoon-resistant intelligent cage breeding platform in Guangdong Province.

Qingyuan: Guangqing Textile and Garment Industry Orderly Transfer Park

In the past three years, Qingyuan has introduced nearly 1,100 industrial projects，with an investment of more than 210 billion yuan, and 60% of the projects come from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wen Wenxing, mayor of Qingyuan City, said, "Guangqing Textile and Garment Industry Orderly Transfer Park has taken over the textile and garment industry of Zhongda Textile Circle and other provinces to create a fast fashion base in China. At present, more than 1 million square meters of factory buildings have been built in the first phase. We have introduced 480 enterprises and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Xinjiang on textile industry.Pinduoduo, Zhijing Technology and other well-known enterprises have settled in the textile park."

Last year, the transfer park held multiple investment fairs in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other places, introducing 396 projects worth more than 20 million yuan, with a total investment of approximately 81.4 billion yuan.

Huizhou: Build a 'vegetable basket, rice bag, and big kitchen' in the Greater Bay Area.

As the "vegetable basket, rice bag, and big kitchen" of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Huizhou has a high-level production and supply base of green agricultural productsfor Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao，bringingtogether high-quality agricultural products from all over the world, and global agricultural products can also be traded here. ". Huizhou Mayor Wen Jinrong said, "Currently, two provincial agricultural industrial parks have been established on the basis of the base, benefiting 20,000 farmers. "

Shaoguan City: Ecological Development in Northern Guangdong

Shaoguan has four national nature reserves and 12 provincial nature reserves. It is a national forest city and a national ecological civilization construction demonstration area.

"In the past year, Shaoguan has established Nanling National Park and Danxia Mountain National Park, plantinga total of 300,000 trees. At present, the city's forest coverage rate reaches 74.52%, and the forest volume is 105 million cubic meters，" said Shaoguan Mayor Chen Zhiqing.

"Shaoguan has also made use of local forestry resources to develop underforest economy and forest industry economy. We have cultivated 35 provincial underforest economy demonstration bases, 20 provincial forest health care bases, and 51 provincial leading forestry enterprises. Last year, the total output value of Shaoguan's forest industry was 27 billion yuan, an increase of 10%." Chen said.
