New generation of domestic supercomputing system "Tianhe Xingyi" launched in Guangzhou

The National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou (NSCC-ZC) officially released the new generation of the domestic supercomputing system "Tianhe Xingyi" at the 2023 Supercomputing Innovation and Application Conference in Guangzhou on December 6, 2023.

The "Tianhe Xingyi" system is application-centric and is built using key technologies such as domestic advanced computing architecture, high-performance multi-core processors, high-speed interconnection networks, and large-scale storage.

Compared with "Tianhe 2", one of the world's fastest supercomputers, the new-generation domestic supercomputing system has doubled in many aspects, including general CPU computing power, network capabilities, storage capabilities, and application service capabilities.

"Tianhe Xingyi" also supports various application modes, including  high-performance computing, AI large model training, and big data analysis, which will further enhance the multi-field service capabilities of the NSCC-ZC.

"Tianhe-2" was successfully developed in 2013 and topped the T0P500 list of supercomputers six times in a row. This marked that China's supercomputing system development has entered the world's leading ranks.

Ten years ago, the installation of "Tianhe-2" in Guangzhou marked a significant milestone. Today, the NSCC-ZC has emerged as one of the world's leading supercomputing centers, boasting a vast user base and a wide array of applications. Notably, it is the sole Chinese supercomputing center to be listed among the top five globally in terms of both popularity and impact.

At present, the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou" Science and Technology Cluster has ranked second in the Global Innovation Index for four consecutive years. Guangzhou has surged to 8th in the world in the "Nature Index -- Scientific Research City" ranking. The city's R&D investment reached 98.836 billion RMB, placing it fourth in the country.
