Guangdong welcomes another 8 academicians

On November 22nd, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced their lists of newly elected academicians for the year 2023. Among them, 59 ascended into the CAS list and 74 into the CAE ranks.

Of these distinguished individuals, there are eight academicians from Guangdong Province. The specific list is provided below.

Chinese Academy of Sciences:

Ma Jun from the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center

Yan Ning from Tsinghua University and Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation

He Hongping from the CAS Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry

Zheng Hairong from the CAS Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology

Chinese Academy of Engineering:

Han Enhou from the South China University of Technology

Li Qingquan from Shenzhen University

Xing Feng from Guangzhou University

Liu Chao from the Drug Testing Technology Center of Guangdong Province (Guangdong Branch of China's National Drug Laboratory)

In addition to these eight scientists, several other newly elected academicians are actively engaged in scientific and technological innovation in Guangdong. For instance, academician Huang Sanwen works at both the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences based in Hainan Province and the Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen (AGIS) based in Shenzhen. Another academician, Yu Gang from Beijing Normal University, serves as the Dean of the Advanced Interdisciplinary Institute of Environment and Ecology, which is located at the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University.

On November 23rd, the Chinese Academy of Engineering again revealed the list of elected foreign academicians for the year 2023. The election saw the inclusion of 16 foreign academicians, including the Honorary Professor Ranjith Pathegama Gamage from Shenzhen University.
