On November 22, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Human Resources Service Industry High-Quality Development Forum was held in Shenzhen.

With the aim of attracting global talents, this Forum invited experts and scholars from China and abroad to discuss the construction of a talent hub in the GBA.

“What’s at the core of international competition is the competition for talents. The GBA cities should give full play to their own advantages to attract talents and enable them to have a free flow in the region,” said Zheng Yongnian, professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, during his video speech.

In addition, leading figures from the world’s three largest Bay Areas, namely the New York Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Tokyo Bay Area, sent their regards to the Forum as guests of honor.

“The existing pool of experts and talents in the GBA is a major reason for its continuous success. I highly encourage the cooperation between the GBA and New York Bay Area, especially in talent exchanges,” said Harley Seyedin, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China.

“The San Francisco Bay Area region, the United States, and China’s GBA have always maintained close ties with each other through talent flows.” Sean Randolph, Senior Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, believes that cooperation between the two bay areas can be raised to a new height in the future.

Tanabe Hisato, General Manager of the Guangzhou Branch of Mizuho Bank (China), Ltd., who is familiar with the Tokyo Bay Area, has been traveling between China and Japan for many years. He has witnessed the rapid development of the GBA.

“People, goods, and wealth from all over the world gather here. It is also the geographical center of Asia. We are very much looking forward to creating new business opportunities and continuing to grow in the GBA,” he said.

In recent years, GBA has encouraged youth to pursue their dreams and strive for a better future. Vong Keng Hei, a young Macao lawyer, came to Hengqin and formed a three-region joint venture law firm in Hengqin in 2019. “GBA has offered Hong Kong and Macao youth a big stage for innovations and entrepreneurship. I hope we can integrate our dreams into the overall national development, so that innovation can be the premier engine for development.”

According to the statistics, there are already over 15,000 human resources service agencies in the GBA, accounting for a quarter of the national total, showcasing the enormity of the human resources service market in the region.

As of 2022, Guangzhou has a total of 2,398 human resources service enterprises, with nearly 58,000 employees, and the annual operating income of human resources service agencies in the city reached 147.7 billion RMB.

Headed by Zhong Nanshan, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and together with other leading figures from all walks of life in the GBA, an invitation letter was sent to global talents, who are welcome to come to the GBA to live and work for a shared future.
