On October 25, five hospital preparations from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), approved for cross-border use, were sent to Macao. After these hospital preparations being received by Kiang Wu Hospital, they will gradually be applied for clinical purposes across Macao.

The five Chinese medicine preparations for clinical use are Gusongan Capsule, Eleng Capsule, Feiyang Waixi Granule, Xiaoer Kechuanning Oral Liquid, and Kaiwei Xingpi Liquid.

The cross-border use of Chinese medicinal hospital preparations is mainly attributed to the excellent TCM resources in Guangdong Province. It also represents a new milestone in the TCM connectivity within the Greater Bay Area and helps further explore the development strategies for the Greater Bay Area in the new era.

Guangdong and Macao have favorable geographical advantages and similar medication habits among the public. As a strong TCM province, Guangdong is home to numerous medical institutions that boast their unique formulas and prescriptions with proven clinical efficacy and distinctive Lingnan characteristics.

Currently, Guangdong and Macao are actively exploring pathways to facilitate the introduction of Chinese mainland’s TCM hospital preparations into Macao. To promote clinical application and enhance market value, relevant medical institutions have engaged in the advance of the transformation of promising hospital preparations into new drugs in Macao and the promotion of the development of TCM in both regions.
