New direct railway route to link Hong Kong and four cities in Guangdong

Starting on October 11, the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link will open a new route, linking Hong Kong West Kowloon and five stations in Jiangmen, Kaiping, Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang.

The five newly-added stations are Jiangmen Railway Station, Kaiping South Railway Station, Yangjiang Railway Station, Maoming Railway Station and Zhanjiang West Railway Station.

From Zhanjiang West Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station:

In the meantime, train services between Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, and Shenzhen Futian Station will also be enhanced.

The number of direct trains from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Jiangmen will increase from 182 to 188 every day. Now, passengers can buy tickets for the added trains and stations through the 12306 website or APP.

According to the railway authorities, the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link has been in service for five years. During this year’s summer vacation, the passenger volume reached nearly 2.5 million, setting a new record since its opening in September 2018.
