Hengqin serves as a popular destination during double festivals holiday

During the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday this year, a series of activities were held in Hengqin, such as the 31st Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, Mid-Autumn Festival Concert and the 2nd Hengqin Tianmu River Light Show, attracting numerous tourists to have fun.

Hengqin is gradually serving as a popular tourist destination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area during this period. From September 29 to October 6, Hengqin recorded about 501,700 visitors during the holiday, an increase of 87% year-on-year, according to statistics released by the Economic Development Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Based on the statistics of Hengqin Border Inspection Station, during this period, Hengqin Port saw nearly 500,000 entry-exit passenger flow, with the average daily passenger flow reaching about 62,500, a record high since the opening of Hengqin Port. At the same time, the Port also saw about 38,000 entry-exit vehicles flow, 25,000 of which were Macao single-plate vehicles. Macao single-plate vehicles have become the major flow among entry-exit vehicles at Hengqin Port, accounting for nearly 70% of the whole.

Single-plate vehicles from Macao could be seen everywhere in Hengqin during the holiday. Increasingly convenient customs clearance has attracted many Macao residents to enjoy short-term vacations in Hengqin, and more and more Guangdong and Macao residents prefer to travel between Hengqin and Macao during these times.

Hengqin Ferry Terminal received nearly 60,000 passengers within eight days, an increase of nearly 200% year-on-year. Specifically, the passenger flow between Hengqin and Shenzhen increased by 340% year-on-year, and the passenger flow between islands (including Dong'ao Island, Guishan Island and Wailingding Island) increased by 100% year-on-year.
