The Qingmao Checkpoint in Zhuhai, one of the busiest checkpoints in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, celebrated its second anniversary on Sept 8.

Over the last two years, the Qingmao Checkpoint has seen a throughput of over 32 million inbound and outbound travelers, ranking among the top in the country in terms of traveler volume. It has also effectively promoted connectivity within the Greater Bay Area.

Wu Xun of Qingmao Checkpoint's frontier inspection office highlighted that this year's summer vacation witnessed record-breaking passenger flow at the checkpoint. On Aug 19, both inbound and outbound passenger flow reached an all-time high of 109,000.

The port now operates 24 hours a day. Over the last two years, from midnight to 8 am, over 6.7 million inbound and outbound travelers have been recorded crossing the boundary, indicating connectivity momentum within the Greater Bay Area.

Additionally, from January to August this year alone, the number of students crossing the boundary through the Qingmao Checkpoint exceeded 1 million.

To improve efficiency and reduce waiting time for these students, the Qingmao Checkpoint has opened dedicated manual inspection channels and launched expedited inspection lanes since May this year, benefiting approximately 200,000 students so far.

Moreover, the checkpoint has created a designated waiting area for students, added youth volunteer posts, and assigned personnel to provide on-site guidance and assistance, all contributing toward improved safety and efficiency within the checkpoint.

Li Xiang of the Qingmao Checkpoint noted that the checkpoint will continue to focus on serving the public and guaranteeing the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area. It will also continue to launch new initiatives to optimize customs clearance processes.
