Guangdong Governor visits Switzerland to deepen cooperation

Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong led a delegation to visit Switzerland from September 4 to 5. Wang met with Carmen Walker Späh, a member of the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich and attended the fifth Guangdong-Zurich Finance Roundtable to deepen the cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting with Späh, Wang said that since Guangdong and Zurich established sister-province relationship in 2014, the two places have carried out a series of cooperations in finance, economy, trade and education.

Guangdong will work with Zurich to expand exchanges and cooperation in advanced manufacturing, trade and investment, industrial science and technology, education and tourism, sustainable development and other fields under the innovative strategic partnership established by China and Switzerland.

Späh pointed out that the two sides should seize the opportunities, strengthen exchanges, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields such as finance, manufacturing, technology, commerce and trade.

On September 5, the fifth Guangdong-Zurich Finance Roundtable was held at SIX Swiss Exchange in Zurich. At the meeting, Guangdong's financial delegation including Shenzhen Stock Exchange, China Guangfa Bank, Guangfa Securities and Tencent Group, had in-depth exchanges on deepening financial business cooperation with UBS, SIX Swiss Exchange, Swiss Re, China Construction Bank Zurich Branch, Switzerland Tourism and other institutions.

Wang hopes Guangdong and Zurich will conduct more cooperation in various sectors, and welcomes more Swiss financial institutions and companies to visit Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for exchanges, cooperation and investment. The province promises to further its financial reform and innovation, and to provide high-quality services for companies from all over the world, including Switzerland, to develop in Guangdong.
