The project is the first with its mode of production in Hengqin and supervision in Macao. It has an important demonstration role in deepening the integration and coordinated development of traditional Chinese medicine and health industries in Hengqin and Macao.
Based on the General Plan for Construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin issued in September 2021, TCM, food and health care products, which are approved and registered in Macao and produced in Hengqin, are allowed to use labels featuring "Supervised in Macao" or "Designed in Macao".

"In the future, we hope to make full use of the mode of production in Hengqin and supervision in Macao. In this way, we can boost the distribution and sales of Macao-made pharmaceutical products in Hengqin and further expand the market scale of Macao's pharmaceutical brand," said Liu Diheng, the technical development director of Macau-Union Pharmaceutical Limited.
"We also hope that through the mode of production in Hengqin and supervision in Macao, we can help Macao achieve a more standardized and large-scale commercial production of Macao's pharmaceutical brands," commented Sun Dapeng, deputy general manager of Guangdong-Macao Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd..
A staff member of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao noted that the successful practice of the project has further strengthened the confidence of Macao-based drug manufacturers to expand their industrial scale in Hengqin, so as to accelerate the integrated development of TCM and the health industry in Hengqin and Macao.
