Hengqin’s first national-level regional medical center to open in 2025

The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University Hengqin Hospital has recently been listed as one of the national-level regional medical centers. This is Hengqin's first national-level regional medical center, and it is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2025.

Located in the central area of Hengqin, the hospital covers an area of 60,000 square meters, with 1,500 beds planned in the long term and a total investment of about 2.72 billion RMB.

The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University houses 12 national medical platforms, such as the National Center for Respiratory Medicine, the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Disease and the State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease.

The Hengqin Hospital will be equipped with a set of supporting facilities for medical treatments, scientific research and teaching, including an emergency department, outpatient clinic, inpatient department and scientific research centers.

The hospital is said to work as a national-level regional medical center integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, as well as the prevention and control of diseases, serving the whole Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, especially Hengqin, Macao and Zhuhai.
