HKUST (GZ) wins gold award for its architectural design

Recently, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) campus project designed and submitted by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates(KPF) won the gold award in the category of "Social Public & Urban Regeneration Project - Cultural & Education" of China Real Estate & Design Award (CREDAWARD).

309 institutions from 17 countries and regions participated in the competition, and 853 entries were submitted.

The campus master plan design of HKUST (GZ) integrates natural landscape and modern architecture. The key cutting-edge technologies of energy saving and environmental protection are also used in the architectural design, and it is committed to making the campus a new benchmark for green, intelligent and sustainable development.

Dr. Bin Li, the Special Assistant to the President and the Director of the Office of the President of HKUST (GZ) believes that KPF has conceived and designed a new green scientific research and education scene for the campus. "The first phase of the campus of HKUST (GZ) was put into use last year, and the second phase is under construction. The second phase of the campus is planned to be completed and used in the autumn of 2026." He said.

As a comprehensive design award, CREDAWARD brings together participation from the government, real estate development industry, brand industry, various platforms and the world's top design institutions. Schools such as University College London (UK), Manchester School of Architecture (UK), Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) and others also supported the competition.
