On July 5, the express train X8732 departed from Shenzhen Pinghu South Railway logistic park. It will arrive at Chengxiang Railway Station in Chengdu 40 hours later.
It marks the first express freight direct train from Shenzhen to the Sichuan-Chongqing region, adding to the logistic channels between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
It carries a total of 70 standard containers loaded with 1,050 tons of goods manufactured in Shenzhen and its nearby regions, including grain, condiments, raw materials, paper products, and home appliances. In the future, seven regular trains will be scheduled every week.
According to the logistics authorities, the railway remains the first choice for long-distance transportation because it is safer, more environmentally friendly, and less affected by different weather and circumstances. Through direct freight trains like this, companies can save 8 percent to 10 percent of the original logistics costs.
The opening of this new logistic channel also aims to meet the strategic goal of “carbon dioxide peaking” and “carbon neutrality”.
Going forward, Pinghu South Railway logistics park will further tap into the multimodal transportation routes like “ocean + railway” or “highway + railway”, as well as expand more freight routes for the domestic trade, so as to contribute to the building of a green logistics transportation system in Shenzhen.
