On March 12, the installation of the steel deck pavement was completed on Zhongshan Bridge, part of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.

The paving area in a single day reached 22,600 square meters, breaking the world record of using hot-mixed epoxy asphalt (HMEA) concrete.
According to the project’s authorities, with the completion of this steel deck pavement, the total constructed area has exceeded 150,000 square meters, accounting for about 40 percent of the Link’s total.

The Link’s entire steel deck area is the largest of its kind in the world at about 380,000 square meters, which is equivalent to 53 standard football fields.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is expected to open to traffic in 2024. Next, the construction of the asphalt concrete pavement on Zhongshan Bridge will begin, and the steel box girders are being installed on the Lingdingyang Bridge.

The construction of the east and west artificial islands is progressing steadily, and the submarine tunnel has so far installed 31 tubes, with the final one currently being prefabricated.
