Since normal travel between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao fully resumed on February 6, group tours have seen a boom in popularity.
“At present, the cross-border travellers are mainly residents from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. With the growing travelling need from residents in other provinces, the number of passengers will continue to rise,” said a representative at the border checkpoint.

The passenger throughput in a single day (February 12) registered 31,000, hitting a new high over the last three years.
To help those travelling to Hong Kong and Macao for the first time, the port has specified the customs clearance guide on the spot and established a mechanism to facilitate visa applications.
Besides, with the implementation of the “Macao Cars Going Northward” policy, the number of self-driving travellers has also surged.
The business of travel agencies is also picking up. For instance, China Travel Service Hong Kong (CTS) has launched brand-new products like red tourism and study tours to attract more travellers to the SAR.
