February 11 was the first Saturday since the full resumption of regular travel between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. On this day, the number of single-plate vehicles exiting or entering the border through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port reached more than 1,200, breaking the record of 1,000 cars per day for the first time.
It also signifies the most vehicles entering the port since the implementation of "Macao Cars Going Northward" on January 1. "So many friends have already applied (for "Macao Cars Going Northward"), and I also wanna try driving to Guangdong during the weekend," said Mrs. Yu, a Macanese driver.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port is the only designated port under the
"Macao Cars Going Northward" policy. By noon on February 12, more than 14 thousand Macao single-plate cars had entered Guangdong through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge under the policy.
The port has an increasing inbound and outbound traffic flow due to the growing number of Macao single-plate cars. So far in February, the checkpoint of the port has seen over 8,000 vehicles, a record since its opening in 2018.
It is estimated that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will have more inbound and outbound vehicles after the resumption of regular travel between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
According to a representative from the checkpoint at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, they will improve the customs clearance service, and facilitate the economic and personnel exchanges between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
