Guangdong’s foreign trade hit 8.31 trillion RMB in 2022, topping China for 37 consecutive years

According to Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs (GACC) statistics, in 2022, the total value of Guangdong's foreign trade hit 8.31 trillion RMB, an increase of 0.5 percent over 2021. More specifically, exports valued at 5.33 trillion RMB, up 5.5 percent.

It accounts for 19.8 percent of the country's total import and export value, ranking first for 37 consecutive years.

In 2022, Guangdong's top five trading partners were ASEAN, Hong Kong, the United States, the European Union, and Taiwan. In addition, foreign trade with the Belt and Road countries grew by 10.3 percent, Latin America by 9.5 percent, and other BRIC countries by 9.3 percent.

Statistics show private enterprises in Guangdong are vigorous in foreign trade. In 2022, Guangdong's private enterprises imported and exported 4.78 trillion RMB, an increase of 2.5 percent, accounting for 57.6 percent of Guangdong's total foreign trade value, a rise of 1.1 percent over the previous year.

Major export commodities grew well, and the export of new energy products increased substantially. For instance, the export of electric vehicles, solar cells, and lithium-ion batteries have increased by 4.7 times, 45.3 percent, and 42.6 percent, respectively.
