Centers to research TCM vital energy drugs, transform R&D into industries

Branches of the National Engineering Research Center for Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Guangdong Research Center for Disease Susceptibility and TCM R&D Engineering Technology opened at Jiaheng (Zhuhai Hengqin) Pharmaceutical Technology with the unveiling of plaques June 17.

Relying on the two centers, Jiaheng Pharmaceutical plans to increase R&D investment to cultivate its exclusive variety of vital energy regulating drugs into a major TCM variety. Industry-university-research cooperation will also be promoted to accelerate the transformation of new achievements.

Jiaheng Pharmaceutical was founded in October 2021 at TCM Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao, the first TCM R&D company to settle there since establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin in last September. Besides R&D, it focuses on sci-tech achievement transformation of innovative and secondary development of TCM drugs, chemical raw materials and preparations, and light medical cosmetology and big-health products.

The National Engineering Research Center for Modernization of TCM is a backbone in the industry that was approved by the Ministry of Science & Technology and constructed byLivzon Pharmaceutical Group and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.

The Guangdong Research Center for Disease Susceptibility and TCM R&D Engineering Technology was established by Jinan University. It conducts long-term research of natural drugs and TCM modernization.

The Jiaheng substation of the Hengqin Post-doctoral Scientific Research Workstation has been recently approved, and TCM doctorate Gao Jiaying from Macao has entered the station to start scientific research. As stated in Macao’s2nd five-year plan (2021-25), the Special Administrative Region will support development of the TCM industry and ally with Hengqin to develop the big-health industry. Gao said she is delighted to participate in more projects in Hengqin and become one of the builders and witnesses to development of the Greater Bay Area.
