Starting from March 22nd, Xilang Station of Metro Line 1 will use a newly-built transfer passageway to facilitate the construction of Metro Line 10.

With the new transfer channel in place, passengers need to go through Exit J to the lobby of Guangzhou-Foshan circular intercity railway. So, the walking distance will be slightly increased, thus needing longer transfer time.

However, during peak hours, the intercity commuters can choose to transfer at Shayuan station of Metro Line 8 or Lijiao station of Metro Line 3 to save some time and for a better passenger experience.
The current transfer passageway, which has been in operation for over 11 years, will be shut down together with the original Exit A and Exit B.
In the future, Xilang will be converted into a fully underground metro station, connecting Metro Line 1 with Metro Line 10, Line 22 and Guangzhou-Foshan intercity rail.

The vacated space will be employed for transit-oriented development (TOD) to build a comprehensive transportation junction at Xilang station.
Through Metro Line 22, passengers can get to Guangzhou South Railway station, Guangzhou Railway station, and Guangzhou Baiyun International airport. It also plans to be extended to link Binhaiwan Station in Dongguan and Shajing station in Shenzhen.
