All imported frozen food and some of the imported fruits that enter China from Zhuhai ports will be sent to a warehouse in the Shangchong community of Qianshan for centralized disinfection. Customers will be able to trace the process via QR codes.
The warehouse, which began operation last January in Zhuhai Agricultural Investment Holding's agricultural products logistics industrial park, is capable of disinfecting 40 tons of cold-chain food daily. The clear-cut layout of seven functions zones for disinfection, sampling, and storage ensures a standardized management.

Currently, all imported frozen food has to be disinfected and present negative nucleic acid test results to enter Zhuhai. Upon arrival at the warehouse, they will be sampled by third-party institutions for nucleic acid testing, and then disinfected before entering refrigeration for separate storage.
The commodities can only enter the market with a traceability code, exit proof from the centralized-supervision warehouse, as well as certificates of inspection and quarantine for imported goods, negative nucleic acid tests, and disinfection.
According to the Zhuhai Market Supervision Bureau, the staff members at the warehouse are registered as personnel with high COVID-19 infection risks and are subject to closed-looped management, as well as frequent nucleic acid testing.
Customers are advised to purchase imported cold chain food from licensed stores, scan the traceability code of the commodities, and make payment via cellphones so that they can be traced in case of a COVID-19 outbreak caused by cold chain food.
From Jan 14 to 18, Zhuhai had completed 8,108 nucleic acid tests of personnel, product, and environment samples from key venues related to imported cold chain food, all of which produced negative results.
