Train G4640 from Shenzhen North Station to Nanchang West Station will depart at 9 a.m. Friday, marking the official operation of the long-awaited Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway.
The whole trip between Shenzhen and Nanchang will be cut to 3 hours 30 minutes from the previous 5 hours and 32 minutes, while the trip between Shenzhen and Ganzhou will be shortened to 1 hour and 49 minutes from the original 4 hours and 42 minutes.
The standard ticket fare for a second-class seat for a trip between Shenzhen and Ganzhou is 264 yuan (US$41.6), a first-class seat 422 yuan, and a business-class seat 924 yuan, according to China’s official ticketing website, www.12306.cn.
The standard fare for a second-class, first-class and business-class seat for a trip between Shenzhen and Nanchang is 482.5 yuan, 772 yuan, and 1,579 yuan, respectively.
During the early stage, the railway operator will arrange 22 pairs of trains on the line and train speed will be controlled at a maximum of 300 kilometers per hour.
Starting from Jan. 10 when the new operation schedule is introduced, the operator will deploy a maximum of 92 pairs of trains.
The Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway runs 434 kilometers between Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province and Shenzhen via Heyuan, Huizhou and Dongguan in Guangdong Province. It has 14 stations, including nine in Guangdong, where the section spans 301 kilometers.
The Ganzhou-Shenzhen railway forms part of a longer high-speed link to Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province, and is also part of the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway, one of the vertical routes in the country’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network.”
