New metro to cut travel time to 45 minutes from Baiyun Airport to Nansha

The north extensions of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 and Line 22 recently completed their second environmental impact assessment. According to the report, in the future it will take 30 minutes between Huadu and Guangzhou’s downtown, 45 minutes between Baiyun International Airport and Nansha, and 45 minutes between Qingyuan and Guangzhou.

At some stations on the two lines, there will be trains bound for different destinations driving on the same track, and in some sections, passengers can switch between the “sister lines” without transferring.

Line 18: connect Qingyuan with Guangzhou’s downtown in 45 minutes

The Line 18 north extension, totalling 39.6 km, starts from Guangzhou East Railway Station, stretching from Tianhe to Baiyun.

Jingxilu Station:interchange with the upcoming Lines 26 and 29

Baiyun Dongping Station:interchange with Line 14 and the upcoming Line 6 (Foshan)

Baiyun City Centre Station:interchange with Line 22 and the upcoming Lines 34 and 39

Fangshi Station:interchange with Line 22 and the upcoming Line 41

Fenghuang S. Road Station:interchange with the upcoming Lines 35 and 36

Ma’anshan Park Station:interchange with Line 9

Huachengjie Station:interchange with upcoming Line 35 and the Xinbaiguang Intercity Railway

In 2036, there will probably be 7 branches of Line 18, among which, the Gongbei (Zhuhai)-Baiyun City Centre branch will link Guangzhou with Zhuhai, and the Panyu Square-Qingyuan Vocational Education City branch will connect Guangzhou with Qingyuan.

Line 22: connect Nansha with Baiyun International Airport in 45 minutes

Metro on Line 22 departs from Fangcun, travels through Liwan, Yuexiu, Baiyun, Huadu, and arrives at Baiyun International Airport. The whole railway, which spans 41.1 km, is all under the ground with 10 interchange stations.

Caihongqiao Station:interchange with Lines 8, 11, and 13

Guangzhou East Railway Station:interchange with Lines 2, 5, 11, 14, and upcoming lines

Baiyun Railway Station:interchange with Lines 8, 12, 24, and the upcoming Line 6 (Foshan)

Xiamao Station:interchange with the upcoming Line 24

Baiyun City Centre Station:interchange with Line 18, and upcoming Lines 34 and 39

Fangshi Station:interchange with Line 18 and upcoming Line 41

Renhe Station:interchange with Line 3

Airport East Station, Airport South Station and Airport North Station:The stations will be set in Terminals 3, 1 and 2 in order. Passengers can transfer to the Xinbaiguang Intercity Railway in Terminal 3.

In the future, it will extend to Dongguan’s Binhaiwan Bay Area and Shenzhen’s Guangmingcheng, with the mileage rising to 128.8 km.
