On August 15, the two sides of Xiangshan Mt Tunnel under the Huangmao Sea Channel project were connected after 895 days of work.
So far, the five main towers of the Huangmao Sea Channel Bridge and the Gaolan Port Bridge have been capped, and the whole project has entered the stage of installing the steel box girders. The project is expected to be finished and open to traffic by the end of 2024.
Since the construction started on March 3, 2021, the Xiangshan Mt tunnel has been a key section of the Huangmao Sea Channel project, linking the land and sea of the whole line. It is located in Chixi Town of Taishan, Jiangmen. Its right line has a length of 1590 meters and the left one is 1670 meters.
By using BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology and integrating other technologies, the construction team conducted all-round animation simulation and technical visualization, enabling the workers to make scientific decisions based on the visual information.
The Huangmao Sea Channel runs about 31 kilometers, and the cross-sea section is about 14 kilometers. The project has two super large cable-staged bridges, one medium tunnel and one long tunnel, and four interchanges. The Shishan Tunnel was completed on August 8, 2022.
