Trade between Guangdong province and other APEC economies totaled 6.16 trillion yuan in 2025, up 3.3% year on year, according to statistics from Guangdong Customs.
Exports reached 3.82 trillion yuan, up 1.1%, while imports rose to 2.34 trillion yuan with a growth of 8.7%.
China's Hong Kong SAR, the United States, and China's Taiwan region were Guangdong's top three APEC trading partners, with trade volumes of 1.28 trillion yuan, 945.32 billion yuan, and 833.08 billion yuan, respectively. They accounted for nearly half of Guangdong's total trade with APEC economies, highlighting the strength of regional economic ties.

Foreign-invested enterprises recorded 2.17 trillion yuan in trade with APEC partners, an increase of 6.2%, accounting for 35.2% of the total, 0.8 percentage points higher than in 2024. Private enterprises remained the main engine of growth, with trade reaching 3.77 trillion yuan, up 4.1%, and contributing 61.2% of the total.
Guangdong-made products continue to reach global markets as higher-value products gain momentum. Exports of mechanical and electrical products rose 6% to 2.62 trillion yuan, lifting their share of total exports to 68.7%. High-tech, smart, and green products showed particularly strong growth, with exports of integrated circuits, drones, and the so-called new three products (new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products) rising by 38.7%, 47%, and 25.8%, respectively.
Imports from APEC economies also expanded rapidly. Mechanical and electrical product imports accounted for 1.72 trillion yuan, up 13.7%, representing more than 73% of Guangdong's imports from APEC economies. Imports of integrated circuits increased by 19.6%, while computers and related components rose by 17.9%, reflecting deeper integration across Asia-Pacific supply chains.
As Shenzhen prepares to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November 2026, Guangdong, long seen as South China's main gateway, stands to gain new opportunities from regional cooperation, trade facilitation, and industrial collaboration.
