In December 2012, Ong Bee Hong, a corporate executive from Singapore, came to China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) to invest. In the past 8 years, she has witnessed CSGKC transforming from a wasteland in the north of Guangzhou into a brand-new city. Moreover, CSGKC has also played an important role in technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area(GBA).

In the past ten years, more than 1,800 registered companies have settled in CSGKC with a registered capital of 150.8 billion yuan. The living facilities of CSGKC have also been improved. Public schools, commercial complexes and convenient transportation also make life more convenient for the residents.

In 2018, CSGKC became a national-level bilateral cooperation project. According to the plan released in 2020, CSGKC will connect with Shenzhen, Nansha, Hengqin and other places and become part of the innovation belt in the GBA. At the same time, it will also become a highland of global intellectual property, which would promote knowledge-intensive industries in GBA.
