With a girder erection finished on September 1, the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway has been completed. It is scheduled to be open at the end of the year.

The girder erection was carried out on Xijiang River Bridge, a road-rail bridge built by the Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway construction team and Nansha Port railway authorities during the 4th phase of the expressway project. With a length of 3.23km, the bridge is composed of expressways on the upside and railways on the downside.

The 67-kilometer Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway is expected to increase the transportation network density of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Stretching through Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen, it links up with ten expressways, including Foshan-Kaiping Expressway, Jiangmen-Zhaoqing Expressway, and Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway. It connects with four national and provincial highways, such as Jiangmen Avenue and Bai'an Highway.

After the expressway comes into service, intercity traveling time within the Greater Bay Area will be shortened, thus boosting the integration of Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing and Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen business circles promoting the development of western Guangdong.
