At the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 first hit China, and later become a global pandemic. The pandemic has changed everything completely. So is the situation for Aaron Finley, Associate Director of Deloitte China.

In the wake of the pandemic, Aaron has seen lots of his families and friends in the medical community fighting the virus, in both the US and China. Some of his family and friends in China were sent to Wuhan at the beginning of this year. One of Aaron’s cousins, a doctor who works in a hospital in Los Angeles, is still working on the frontline.

When Aaron happened to know that the hospital she worked at didn’t have enough protective equipment, he had tried to get some for her. “Just hearing from them how much they really needed that kind of support was very touching for me that I was able to support that.”

As for Aaron himself, one of the most significant changes in 2020 was the way of working. When COVID-19 broke out in China, many have made the shift to working from home. In Aaron’s eyes, now many people have adapted to remote or flexible work arrangements. “This is something that's going to maintain after the pandemic,” said Aaron.

As for Deloitte China, Aaron said that the company has benefited a lot from the measures and policies that the government has carried out since the breaking of the COVID-19. Since now China is pretty much back to normal, Aaron believes that in 2021 more development and growth will be seen in China and the Greater Bay Area. Furthermore, it will allow for more cooperation between companies, especially professional services firms like Deloitte, and the GBA.
