On June 1, the Sino Portuguese International Cooperation Center for Investment and Trade (Centro de Cooperação Internacional de Investimento e Comércio Sino Português – CCIICSP) was officially launched in Guangzhou.

As a result of a partnership between PorCham, the Portuguese corporation CINCO, and the China's National Development and Reform Commission, the CCIICSP  aims to strengthen and execute projects of trading, investment, finance, culture, and new energies between Portuguese-speaking countries, and the Portuguese diaspora with the Guangdong-Macao-Hong Kong Greater Bay Area (GBA) as well as Hainan province.

This initiative constitutes an important step towards the implementation of the China and Portugal all-around strategic partnership that was established in 2005, and the strong impetus given to bilateral relations between the two countries.

Today, Portugal is one of the largest recipients of Chinese investment in Europe. The trade volume between China and Portuguese-speaking countries has exceeded  100 billion USD for five consecutive years. Last year, it has hit 200 billion USD.

According to Dário Silva, Chairman of CCIICSP, and President of PorCham, CCIICSP helps Portuguese companies succeed in China, as well as Chinese companies succeed abroad, by providing advocacy support, networking opportunities, insights and business support services.

Silva has been based in China for almost two decades, in his opinion, it is a platform for entrepreneurs and professionals to connect, share resources and build a thriving international community in the GBA, one of the fastest growing economic regions in the world.
