At present, the total mileage of Greater Bay Area's railway network has exceeded 2300 kilometers and the travelling time among major GBA cities is within one hour, said Li Jing, chief planner of the Department of Transport of Guangdong, at a press conference highlighting Guangdong's transportation development.

Over the past year, Guangdong has promoted the construction of 15 key railway projects including the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway and the Guangfo Ring Line, and started 6 projects including the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing High-Speed Railway.
In 2022, the province will start 7 new railway projects including the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway (Qianhai-Pingdi section) of about 400 kilometers.
After the completion of the Xintang-Baiyun Airport-Guangzhou North Railway Station Railway and the special line for Faw Volkswagen at Nanhai, the GBA will have 139 kilometers of newly-added railways, and its railway network will be further improved. It is expected that by 2025, all cities in the Pearl River Delta will achieve "one-hour access" by high-speed rail.
According to the press conference, now the total mileage of expressways in Guangdong has exceeded 11,000 kilometers, ranking first in the country for 8 consecutive years.
