On September 24th, the 2021 Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference was held in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
The Conference is a platform that was launched in 2004 with the approval of the state council for regional cooperation among the Provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian,andthe Hong Kong and Macao SARs.
At the Conference, chief executives from 11 regions highlighted that, with joint efforts to strengthen the linkages of theGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA), Hainan Free Trade Port,Chengdu-Chongqing Dual-City Economic Circle, and the New Land-Sea Corridor in Western China, the radiating and driving effects would be brought to the PPRD region and inter-provincial and regional coordination in various fields to a new level, which will help to push inter-provincial and regional coordination in multiple areas to a new level, build integrated services within theregion, and achieve anew development landscape.
The 11 regions agreed to put forward 7annual critical tasks, including strengthening linkages of major strategies within the region and making joint efforts to build a new development landscape. Also, the Conference will jointly promote the construction of the cooperation platform and bring about a coordinated development of eastern, central, and western areas.
According to the Conference, the 11 regionswill expedite infrastructural connectivity, build a modern comprehensive transport system, build regional synergistic modern industrial and innovation systems, and enhance in-depth cooperation between industries along industry chains and supply chains.
Moreover, the Conference agreed to increase market integration, step up cooperation in ecological and environmental protection among the region, and cooperate in government services and social affairs.
In addition, nine mainland cities of the PPRD region signeda cooperation framework agreement for inter-provincial government services.
Next year, Guizhou province will host the Conference.
