The Zhuhai-Zhaoqing High-Speed Railway is to pass 44.35 km (27.56 miles) through Hezhou (Doumen District) and Jiangmen City railway stations in a tentative design that was announced Aug 13.

Guangdong Guangzi International Engineering Investment Consultants is soliciting assessment of the potential social stability risks of such a design. Residents, enterprises, public institutions, and social groups along the rail line are encouraged to submit suggestions via e-mails, letters, or phone calls.

It was provisionally decided that the Zhuhai-Jiangmen section would start from Zhuhai's Hezhou Island, and pass through Hezhou Railway Station south of the Xianghai Bridge, above Guangdong Western Coastal Expressway, 365 Provincial Road, and Jiangmen-Zhuhai Expressway.

It would bypass Doumen's Zhuhao Mt Nature Reserve, and pass above the Luozhouxi, Hemaxi, and Laolaoxi waterways to Jiangmen, where it would span along the east side of Baizu Mt to bypass the 500kV high-voltage corridor of Guifeng Transformer Substation and pass above Hukeng and Babao waterways to approach the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway. A Guantian Block Post would be built before the rail line crosses the Jiangmen Waterway to reach Jiangmen Railway Station.

The official rail route will be determined after feasibility research and preliminary design. Construction of the section is expected to begin this year and last 48 months, according to an official with the Zhuhai Rail Transport Bureau.
