China implemented a new railway operation map on July 10 to meet the increasing demands of both passengers and cargo transportation, according to China Railway.
Around 39 pairs of trains will be added for daily transport, while another additional 25 pairs of high-speed trains will operate during the peak summer travel season, adding an extra 260,000 seats daily.
Travel time between certain destinations will also shorten. As per the new map, two pairs of high-speed railway will run from Lanzhou, the capital of northwest China's Gansu Province to Dunhuang, home to the world cultural heritage site Mogao Grottoes, cutting the travel time from 13 hours to around eight hours.
Fifty-eight high-speed trains will pass through and stop at the stations along the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Services at train stations in 14 popular tourist cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Wuhan, Hangzhou, and Xiamen, will be optimized to save time.
