About 40 percent of talents who flow into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area settle in Shenzhen, according to a report by a recruiting agency.

The report on industrial development and talent flow by Zhaoping.com was based on the recruitment data and submission of job applications in the 11 cities in the Greater Bay Area between Jan. 1 and March 15.

The report says the Greater Bay Area, as one of the most open and dynamic regions in China, is a huge magnet for jobseekers. Shenzhen took in the most talents, with 40.9 percent, while Guangzhou attracted 31.42 percent, the report says.

Except for Jiangmen, the Greater Bay Area cities in Guangdong all witnessed a net inflow of talents. Beijing is the biggest origin for newcomers landing jobs in the Greater Bay Area, accounting for 11.33 percent of the total.

The intra-city flow of talents accounted for more than half of the people moving to the Greater Bay Area, the report finds. Shenzhen and Guangzhou saw the most people changing jobs inside the city, accounting for 76.95 percent and 73.02 percent, respectively, of the people starting new jobs.

Internet, e-commerce, real estate, construction, construction materials and engineering were the hottest sectors for recruitment, while insurance was the only sector that saw a shortfall in jobseekers as demand remained very strong.

The average monthly salary in the Greater Bay Area amounted to 9,227 yuan (US$1,375) in the spring of 2019. Hong Kong tops the list in the Greater Bay Area, with an average salary of 23,745 yuan a month, followed by Macao and Shenzhen, with at least 10,000 yuan.
